Elementary • "Read Across America Day" • March 2, 2010
Eldorado Emerson celebrated Read Across America on March 2nd with a fun-filled morning, complete with a Green Eggs and Ham breakfast for students in preschool through sixth grade. Kids, teachers, and parent volunteers enjoyed the delicious meal which was prepared by PJ's Abbey, a local family restaurant; most of the students were willing to try the food despite it's green hue and used a picture graph to display whether they liked the odd concoction created by the famous author. Students also enjoyed a variety of games and crafts, which included an "Oh The Places You'll Go"-inspired paper hot air balloon where kids were asked to write down what parts of the world they would like to visit when they grow up. Older students read beloved Dr. Seuss classics to the younger children and everyone left with a little Seuss in their hearts, and an oddly strong urge to rhyme!
